On the weekend of the 6th & 7th November Handmade Shoes (UK) Ltd hosted their annual autumn clinic with guest clinician, twice World Champion Blacksmith, Steven Beane.
Those present were treated to an insight into ‘Beanie’s’ personal feelings with regards to winning the ‘Worlds’, his biggest fears, what drives him to succeed and what goals have yet to be conquered. A formidable competitor, Steven admitted he has had to learn to lose on the way and cites himself as his biggest critic. The Clinic consisted of a ‘Parkinson’ style, no holds barred interview with Billy, a PowerPoint presentation on ‘Dorsal Rounding’ and a practical shoeing and shoemaking  demonstration depicting excellent forging skills and time management as utilised in the ‘Top Ten’ and ‘Final Five’ shoeing rounds at Calgary.

Richard Ellis Update

A big thank you to all of those who have supported and attended the recent fundraising event in aid of Richard Ellis. We, and Richard, have been overwhelmed by the support shown by farriers attending the clinic in October and all of those who have ‘shod a horse for Richard’. Fundraising is ongoing (please make cheques payable to Richard Ellis).
Richard continues to be strong and calm in the face of his rigorous cancer treatment and it goes without saying he has all of our support behind him and we wish strength through his treatment.
